Certifications & Sustainability
Certifications represent a concrete commitment for Hatfil: to offer customers reliable, traceable yarns that meet the highest international standards.
However, we firmly believe that true sustainability is achieved through the quality and durability of products.
We reject and denounce the hypocrisy of all those empty initiatives whose sole purpose is superficial greenwashing, an unfortunate trend that is all too common in today’s textile industry.

OCS BLENDED
The OCS Blended (Organic Content Standard) certifies the presence and percentage of organic material (minimum 5%) in products that contain a mix of organic and non-organic fibers, ensuring traceability throughout the entire supply chain.

OEKO-TEX
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a certification that ensures every component of a textile product — from yarns and fabrics to buttons and zippers — has been tested for harmful substances. The criteria are scientifically based and often stricter than national regulations. Recognized worldwide, it guarantees consumers that the product is safe for human health.

Step by OEKO-TEX
STeP (Sustainable Textile & Leather Production) is an OEKO-TEX® certification that assesses environmental and social sustainability at production sites. It evaluates chemical and environmental management, occupational safety, social responsibility, quality, and innovation.
Designed for companies seeking transparency and continuous improvement in textile and leather manufacturing.

GOTS
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certifies organic textiles throughout the entire production chain — from field to finished product. It enforces strict environmental criteria, including the ban of hazardous chemicals and the treatment of wastewater, as well as social standards such as safe and dignified working conditions. GOTS is globally recognized as a benchmark for sustainability and quality, promoting traceability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

OCS
The Organic Content Standard (OCS), developed by Textile Exchange, verifies and certifies the presence and percentage of organic materials in products. It tracks the supply chain from the origin of the fibers to the final product, but does not impose environmental or social requirements on processes beyond harvesting.

GRS
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certifies the use of recycled materials in textile products. It tracks the entire supply chain and includes strict environmental and social criteria. The standard requires responsible chemical management and the verification of working conditions at production sites. GRS is designed to demonstrate a commitment to circular economy principles, waste reduction, and efficient resource use.

REGENAGRI
Regenagri is an international standard for regenerative agriculture that promotes farming practices aimed at improving soil health, increasing biodiversity, and sequestering carbon. It assesses land, crop, and livestock management. Certified companies demonstrate a commitment to environmental regeneration and more sustainable food and textile production.

BCI – Better Cotton Initiative
Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) promotes more sustainable farming practices in cotton cultivation. It does not certify organic cotton but aims to reduce environmental impact through more efficient water use, reduced pesticide application, and respect for workers’ rights.

COTTON LEADS
Cotton LEADS is a program supported by U.S. and Australian cotton producers that promotes responsible cotton cultivation. It is not a certification but ensures traceability, reduced use of natural resources, and continuous improvement. It is based on sustainable farming practices verified by government bodies.

ISO 9001
ISO 9001 is the world’s most widely recognized standard for quality management. It helps companies ensure that products and services meet customer expectations through structured processes, performance measurement, risk management, and continuous improvement. Globally acknowledged and applicable across all sectors, ISO 9001 is often a prerequisite for business partnerships and public procurement. It enhances efficiency, competitiveness, and stakeholder trust.

ISO 14001
ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems. It helps companies reduce the environmental impact of their activities, improve regulatory compliance, and optimize resource use. It includes requirements for waste, emissions, and consumption management. Implementing it enhances operational efficiency, reduces environmental risks, and strengthens organizational credibility.

Code of Ethics
It is the document that defines the values, moral principles, and rules of conduct that guide the behavior of the company and its collaborators. It aims to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in both internal and external relations, preventing misconduct and protecting the organization’s reputation.

ISO 45001
ISO 45001 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management. It helps companies prevent incidents, identify and manage risks, and improve employee well-being. It fosters greater organizational responsibility, reduces injury-related costs, and enhances workplace welfare.

ISO 26000
ISO 26000 is a guideline for integrating social responsibility into corporate strategies. It provides principles on human rights, labor, environment, ethics, and community development. It supports organizations in acting ethically and transparently, contributing to sustainability. We rely on DNV for guidance in this direction.

BSCI
Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), now part of amfori, is a monitoring system that helps companies improve working conditions in their supply chains. Based on ILO principles, BSCI verifies compliance with fundamental human rights through regular audits.

SEDEX
SEDEX is a collaborative platform used by companies to share ethical and social information across their supply chains. Through the SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) protocol, companies conduct audits that assess labor, environment, ethics, and health and safety — supporting the improvement of ethical practices.

I-REC
International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) is a tool used to certify electricity consumption from renewable sources, especially in countries without local certification systems. Each certificate represents 1 MWh of green energy fed into the grid. Companies use I-RECs to demonstrate their commitment to decarbonization and for calculating Scope 2 emissions. It is a key instrument for achieving environmental sustainability and climate neutrality goals.

DETOX
The Detox Campaign, promoted by Greenpeace, calls on fashion brands to eliminate hazardous chemicals from their production processes. Participating companies commit to disclosing data on chemical use, improving environmental management, and promoting transparency. It demonstrates a concrete commitment to protecting the environment, consumers, and workers.

HIGG INDEX
Higg Index is a tool developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition to measure environmental, social, and production performance in the fashion industry. It provides indicators on materials, resource use, working conditions, and environmental impact, helping companies monitor, compare, and improve sustainability across the supply chain.

ZDHC
Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation is a global initiative to eliminate hazardous chemicals from the textile industry. It provides guidelines such as the MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List), tools for wastewater monitoring, and training programs. Member companies adopt safer practices that go beyond legal compliance. ZDHC promotes a more responsible, transparent, and chemically sustainable textile supply chain.
